Merry Christmas + My Engagement Story

I hope you're having a wonderful, magical day with your loved ones. Hope all your holiday wishes are coming true!

Christmas 2016 was the most magical night of my life…We were at Arriba Mexican Grill restaurant, which is our favorite restaurant. We were having a romantic and relaxed dinner, which is perfect for  “us.”

After, stuffing my face with this delicious meal. I left and went to the lady’s room. Not even for a second did I expect that beautiful, serene scene was about to become one of the most meaningful moments of our lives. In fact, I was so taken aback when I sat back at the table to notice this beauty seating on the table.

I had a rush of uncontrollable emotion swept right through my body. I didn’t have any words at first (me! no words!). All I could do was explode into his arms and experience pure joy from head to toe.

And to top things off, his (3) beautiful children have also accepted me as their future-stepmom, which is a blessing that makes my heart so full and complete.

Being engaged didn’t truly hit me until I started saying “fiancé” out loud. “My fiancé loves this saying;“You are the butter to my bread and the breath of my life.”

I will have to admit that being engaged does feel different.

There is a sense of strength in us, a feeling of being further grounded but most of all, I feel at peace! The ring itself makes me feel very feminine and takes my breath away every time I look down, which I can’t stop doing, by the way. When it comes to taking it off, forget it. I’ll even wake up in the middle of the night to make sure it’s still there! I never thought I’d be the girl sticking her hand out to her family and friends with such excitement for my future.

I look forward to growing old with Rodney so that one day when we are both weak and fragile, we can sit on our rocking chairs, look at each other and say – we lived a perfect and the most beautiful life.

Getting engaged has been about much more than the engagement itself. The rush of love from friends and family, plus the support from all of you has been overwhelming. The love being poured into this next step of our relationship is incredible, and I’m so very grateful.

The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. - Psalms 126:3
