In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters (1:1-2).This demonstrates the enormity of God’s power to transform our lives. Yes, there was a beginning in which our world had no form, only God was strong and powerful enough to bring form to a world that was empty. As darkness covered the deep blue waters of the ocean, God’s holy spirit was hovering all over it placing his beautiful creations in the midst of it. He wanted to bring forth a marvelous light that would shine and be so powerful that it would need to separate from darkness. “Then God separated the light from the darkness (1:3). This means that God has separated you, his righteous creation from earthly things. God has a purpose and a plan for all his creations.
As a righteous creation separated from darkness (and or earthly things). God wants you to choose to lead a life where you’re able to discern from good and evil contrary to the choices EVE made, and have a strong faith that does not waver when things in your life get chaotic like NOAH. Also, to trust God even when it seems impossible like ABRAHAM, and the opportunity to surrender completely to God when you go astray in his direction like JACOB, the deceiver. Ultimately, we were taught that God, let the land sprout with vegetation –all sorts of seed-bearing plants and trees with seed-bearing fruit (1:12). But, how can your foundation be planted as deep as the roots of a tree, if you choose deception from the world over the truth of the WORD?
God clearly communicates his desire for our lives to be fruitful and multiply (1:22). Two things necessary to live fruitful lives are balance and pruning. To stay balanced we need to make sure we get the right amounts of healthy nourishment, rest, work, play, time alone with God, and time to enjoy godly relationships. Pruning is not always pleasant, but it does ensure that the situations, activities, or relationships that are depleting us will not continue to have the power to do so. Stay balanced by allowing God to construct you into a beautiful creation into his own likeness (1:26-27).
To be in God’s likeness means that we have the power of choice, and were accountable to God and to others for the choices that we make. God is the wise master gardener, who can prune your life as he sees fits, and you will enjoy years of fruitfulness and fulfillment. We must take responsibility for this aspect of God’s nature in each of us-our ability to choose.
When God completed his six days of creation, He took time to look at everything and he saw that “It was very good (1:31).” Many people feel worthless, insecure, and unacceptable, God looked at everything He created, including YOU, and said, “It was very good. God approves of YOU, just the way that you’re. He knows everything about YOU, and He loves YOU unconditionally.
You’re a beautiful woman.
You’re a handsome man.
We as Christians are in trouble, a deep trouble, the kind of trouble that requires more than superficial solutions and remedies. As you look at your life, would you say you’re experiencing an abundance of SELF-LOVE that Jesus came to give? Or do you find yourself just existing, barely loving who you’re?
Listening to a viewpoint about yourself that is contrary to God’s word will put you on a slippery slope that will eventually lead to you blocking out the truth of God’s Word, which leads to physical and spiritual death. That is why I believe it’s so important to carefully monitor the input we allow into our hearts and minds. As an individual, we need to reject any thoughts that will cause us to have ungodly thinking about our own selves.
God approves of us; He may not approve of everything we do, but He does approve of us as His beloved children. I encourage you to make a decision to not only LOVE YOURSELF but to also ACCEPT YOURSELF and HONOR YOURSELF.
Choosing to love, accept, and honor myself is one of the best decisions I have ever made. God does not create junk. He is good, and everything He does is good. We cannot believe that God created us and also believe were worthless. Begin to love, accept and honor yourself where you’re, and God will help you get to where you need to be.
What specific step(s) of action do you need to take to align the way you feel about yourself with the TRUTH you have seen about God?
